When you’re browsing the internet or downloading files 360 security will be present to ensure that nothing nefarious is lurking. It can block access to unsafe websites, examine the history of your browser, keep track of the amount of data you’re using and even track down your phone that is missing.
The suite comes with firewalls and a shredder for data as well as tools for cleaning your system according to a schedule. It can automatically update drivers with anti-tracking tools and even grants you privileged technical support access with just one click.
While there are many settings and options but the interface of the program is easy to navigate and understand. The majority of the settings are controlled by the large buttons, switches or checkmark, which is great from an ergonomics perspective. The program is available on both Windows and Mac, and it’s free to use (ad-supported).
The antivirus itself does a good job keeping your computer safe from malware. Its real-time detection detects more than 95% of threats, and didn’t cause any false positives in my testing. It doesn’t offer the same degree of detection as other top products in terms of file scanning and heuristics.
360 Total Security offers a number of additional security and maintenance features that include the VPN available only available in the premium version. Its heuristic algorithm can detect malware by looking at the behaviour of a program, which is very useful, particularly if the threat has not yet been formally identified. It also includes the ability to clean up and other tools to tune-up that can help improve the performance of PCs.
